Members of the Social Studies Teacher Leader Corps focus on a variety of key areas, including Reading Apprenticeship/Disciplinary Literacy, the C3 Framework & Inquiry-based social studies instruction, performance assessment in social studies, and open education resources available to Michigan teachers. Our hope is to recruit at least nine new teachers, particularly from the elementary level, who are interested in collaborating to foster Social Studies academic success and civic engagement. The Social Studies Teacher Leader Corps is seeking a new cohort of educators to join this professional group designed to support high-quality Social Studies instruction in our region. Social Studies Teacher Leader Corps Seeks New Members All K-12 teachers and administrators are invited to check the ISD’s social studies website on September 13 (and after) to engage their students in this unique opportunity. Other materials and resources from across Michigan will round out supports. Materials will include a pre-recorded address from Michigan’s Chief Supreme Court Justice Bridget Mary McCormack! In addition, each Supreme Court Justice has provided a personal quote for the day. The ISD will host asynchronous virtual content on the website with more detailed content hosted on Google Classroom content will be available to all teachers starting Monday, September 13. The EUPISD, the League of Women Voters, and 4H will once again partner to provide Constitution Day supports for local districts. Please do your part in keeping our students safe!Īlmost all districts in the EUPISD have job vacancies, from teachers to bus drivers, paraprofessionals, kitchen staff and substitute teachers. Recent legislation was enacted to provide more safety measures: cameras on stop-arms to record video of those passing a stopped school bus as well as fines and civil infractions for impeding bus operation. Be diligent in watching for school buses and students. One sign of school being back in session are the big yellow school buses. ![]() So instead of discussions about masks and quarantines, let’s talk about how our students are doing and what support and opportunity we can provide for their success. At the EUPISD, the staff is ready to support districts through our programs, services and supports, whether in Early Childhood, Special Education, Business Services, Technology, or General Education. Districts around the region are welcoming their students to their classrooms. Excitement is evident from staff as they prepare for the year. I am hopeful that this year can be focused on teaching and learning, rather than all-things COVID.
